"Between Two Churches" - The New Black Album! |
|

The singles ‘Wonderful Life’ and ‘Sweetest Smile’ were both top ten hits for Black in 1987, driving the album ‘Wonderful Life’ to the number 3 spot. The album achieved gold status, selling in excess of two million copies worldwide, and was followed by the critically acclaimed albums ‘Comedy’, ‘Black’ and ‘Are We Having Fun Yet?’.
On the tour, Colin will perform classic tracks from previous Black albums, as well as debuting songs from the forthcoming album ‘Between Two Churches’. This will be the first to be released under the name ‘Black’ in over ten years. The album is due for release in September 2005.
The tour will be marked by the release of the limited edition EP "Two Churches" containing three of the twelve tracks from the forthcoming album plus a bonus track. The EP will only be available at the concerts.
“The songs I’m writing now are a natural evolution of how I began,” says Colin. “I have a lot of affection for the early songs and still enjoy playing them so it seems appropriate that the old and new songs should come together on this tour. In recent years, I’ve enjoyed performing the Black songs with new arrangements, better suited to a concert stage. A lot of people have grown up with these songs and there will be elements of nostalgia for them – but I hope there will be surprises too, and that they will agree that the new songs are among my best work yet.”
According to William Topley's website, he and Colin have been busy:
"I have recently been to Ireland to write songs with my old friend Colin Vearncombe AKA Black, I was thrilled about this, both to work with Colin again,(we wrote 'Sycamore Street" and 'Walk like I do" together amongst many others), and also to visit Ireland for the first time. "
Thanks to Phil for the heads up!
