Cambridge Gig 3 Years, 7 Months ago
Last time Colin played Cambridge was in a room in a pub about 1 to 1 1/2 years ago with no more than 40/50 people bundled up under his nose. The place became a sauna, the set was cut in half and we all ajourned to the bar for half an hour with Colin and band circulating.A half naked Rob Peters changing his sweaty top from drumming in the toilet was not a pretty site!

This time the venue was a purpose built theatre with little of the grit that got the last venue rolling. However, Black on his return put in a fantastic performance as usual giving his fans a class performance with most of the act relying on Black and Vearncombe standards. This was by no means a problem, however I was expecting a deluge of stuff from his new album. Jo Hamilton on electric violin, guitar and backing vocals was a great addition and I think Rob Peters was drumming again. Couldn't recognise him with his clothes on.
Highlight of the evening was his amnesia concerning the lyrics to 'go home', the song was ditched and we all had a laugh as the rest of the band were in stitches!

I bought the CD single and Blackleg Vol 2 which is money straight into Colin's pocket rather than anyone else's and I urge everyone going to the gigs to do likewise. His tours obviously don't make money so the least we can do is buy his music direct rather than from Amazon !
The single Two Churches is a grower. Electric guitar and a heavy feel with a wide range of instruments make the sound fuller and with a bit of radio play....you never know.

My wife jests that I am Colin's stalker as I try not to miss any of his gigs close to London, unfortunately the man is a genius and I am in awe of his talent and vocal skills which when seen live, knock you for six every time.
