I know a whole bunch of you are now the proud owners of new Black songs and nobody has anything to say about them? Come on you guys!!! What do you think of the new songs? Are they "BLACK" songs or Colin songs? :S

The sample ep of Two Churches really does show that Black is Back.
The second track Cold Chicken Skin, played is brilliant and I hope that Colin comes up with some more of these Gems with William in the forthcoming Album.
The CD was played on my CD changer in the car on the way back from The Ent Shed in Bedford and kept the concert going for journey back home.

To be honest, i'd say it's a mixture of Black & Colin (obviously!!!!) if you know what i mean. "Cold chicken skin" is more the later Colin yet "Her Coat No Knickers" i think is more Black. Then again, i support West Brom so what do i know?????????

I've just been to see Colin at Sheffield, and had a really enjoyable
night, and of course had to buy the Two Churches EP. I also was playing it on the way home, and have had some further listens this mornign at home.
This is what I think about each song:
1) Two Churches - I would say is a bit rockier than previous
material. The big production is more obvious, and the electric guitar
is a nice touch. Not so much original Black, but more perhaps what
Black have become with Time.
2) Cold Chicken Skin - A great fun record, a bit country and western
sounding. More what you would expect from Colin than Black.
3) Her Coat NO Knickers - Superb. This song is what we have been
waiting for. I hope that there are a lot more like this on the new
Album. This is definitely the sound of Black. You instantly love it,
and yet enjoy it more with further listens. I feel the difference is
the inclusion of a piano/keyboards, which personally I feel completes
the sound of Black, and is the fundamental difference between Colin
and Black.
4) Where The River Bends - A lovely song, a sort of B-Side. This song
sits on the line between Black and Colin, and hilights at the end of
the day that they are one and the same. This son is the exclusive to
this release, and will not appear on the album, which makes it all
the more special.
Rob.
