Hi
The first time in nearly 20 years i got to see Colin perform LIVE.
There were only about 40 people or so in a smallish room but that made it all the better for me.
The material for the new album sounds great &, he mixed it well with some of the oldies.
Jo (sorry, i forget her surname) was supporting & also sang backing vocals, played guitar & violin with Colin & the excellent Rob.
Perhaps he could have chosen a plainer "alice band" for his hair but, hey, who am i to pick faults with a legend??
He still has the rawness but mellow tones to his voice which he seems to produce effortlessly, & they tingle your spine more when it's live.
Not only have i seen a fantastic display of singing/songwriting but, afterwards, even talked, shook hands, had an autograph or two and a photo with the great man. Well, perhaps he talked & i sort of babbled & drooled, but he didn't seem disgusted &, bless him, he didn't ask me to be thrown out for wittering like a starstruck teenager (which i was---o.k. maybe the teenage bit was a trifle off?)
I sat there during the gig thinking ," i hope he sings this, & i hope he sings that!." but, if he did play ALL my favourites, we'd have been there still. You wouldn't have heard me complain.
With the superb voice of Jo (sorry--still can't remember), i thought " FLY UP TO THE MOON" was a must, but, instead, Colin sang "MOON RIVER" which sounded just as goose pimply as the original, nice one Colin.
I'm still elated & floating after my experience & am going to try damn hard to catch another date on this tour, so, Colin, if you see me, bring a hanky to wipe my slobber off your shoes & again, be kind enough not to throw me out.
I have a photo on my phone, which i will attach if someone tells me how (us Black Coubtry folk can be a little dim), it's not the best piccy but, to me, it's PRICELESS.
Thankyou Colin, Rob & jo.
It really is a WONDERFUL LIFE for me now.
Lord Gutbucket.
