Timjg's Experience 4 Years, 7 Months ago
Well, the Southampton gig was fantastic, like quite a few people here it was my first time seeing him live (I missed the one he did in November (one week before my birthday!!!) simply because I failed to look at the listings that month - appalling behaviour when you consider the venue is only a five minute drive from my house!)

He was on for almost an hour and a half (excluding a quarter hour break thirty minutes in - I think the bar wanted him to stretch the gig out so they could sell some more beer). It was sad to see only thirty odd people there but at least it made it feel very intimate "Small but mighty" to quote Colin himself.

Don't know if I could pick any favourites from the evening as it was all great but water on snow and the handful he played from 'Smoke up close' were particuarly good.

I presume everyone here knows but there was a new CD that doesn't seem to be listed on Colins website on sale "Blackleg Vol.1 - CV Live 2003" which is a selection of live stuff from last year. I was quite suprised when I asked the guy for a bag and he replied "No, but have this instead" and then handed me a 'Just making memories' sweater for free.

The evening finished off nicely when I managed to collar Colin as he walked through the bar. I didn't want to hold him up for too long so I kept the conversation to a brief "Great gig etc" I also asked him about his pre-Wonderful Life songs but unsurprisngly he said that wea weren't going to relinquish the rights just in case he becomes famous again.

Anyway, superb concert, still can't believe I got to speak with him (nice bloke) and can't wait until he's back.

Excellent site by the way. The same week I realised I'd missed Colin last year was also the same week I discovered that I'd lost my copy of the wea compilation 'Black' which given it was one of my favourite albums as I was growning up (and still is) I was incredibly annoyed (even more so when I discovered it was deleted). So thanks for letting me hear More than the Sun, Liquid Dream, and Stephen again even though they're brief snippets.

When's the B-Side CD coming out? And is there anyway of getting hold of the tracks from the wea compliation before then?

Keep up the good work.
