Kipper's Experience 4 Years, 8 Months ago
Hi all
I've been contemplating writing this for a couple of weeks but have only stopped to take breath as I tell others of my experience. Here goes.

It started a long time ago with Wonderful Life on cassette and grew as albums were released. In time they changed into CDs and only bad experience there as one day in a faceless record retailer I found a Black CD I did not have/recognise. I duly paid and rushed home to play. No, I wasn't having fun. Finishing up with that master series thing and putting
SADLY ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS HAD GONE!!

But then by luck, fate and coincidence we meet again.
I booked my tickets for Ireland in anticipation but was concerned how it would turn out. I did not want a played out 80's singer regurgitating worn out tunes.
WELL WHAT A SURPRISE
Each show just got better.
All very atmospheric. No stage lights in Kilkenny - just candles supplied by the man himself and this theme continued throughout. Incense sticks burned to mock the Irish smoking ban. He said "it was just like magic" Well it was far more mystical as he covered us with his voice as sweet and soft as melted chocolate. With a fine mix of songs I knew and songs I now love.
Then that song. How would this one work I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW How could he do it How he could make it sound better. This song cannot be covered by other artists and it should not be mixed, remastered or interfered with. It is in the top ten songs of tens of thousands of people.
YES in a shed at the back of a bar in Kilkenny he did the impossible. Obviously you all knew that he could do this but I was unaware as he sent tears to my eyes.
COLIN VEARNCOMBE IS THE NEW BLACK
Thank you for a Wonderful Life which just got better.

HE IS TOO GOOD TO KEEP AS A SECRET
SEE YOU F0R SOME MORE "MAINLAND" SHOWS.

NOTTINGHAM

A 250 mile round trip :)
to see/hear this man with the voice of an angel.
To be honest I had to prove to myself that what I said before was true
HOW COULD LESS BE MORE!!!!

It may have been the little people playing tricks on my ears or some sort of economy class syndrome supplied free by Ryanair affecting my ears :)

WELL IT WASN'T!
As the first note was played smiles :) :) all round and the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Colin, Mark Peters and Kieran Murphy now even playing better than before.
This trio becoming tighter and pitch perfect as they play together anticipating what is happening next and now joking with each other.
Colin seemed far more relaxed as he told his stories between songs and he hung about afterwards to meet and greet his public. Tour manager Rob (young Mr Vearncombe) sporting a new dashing hair cut and told me that he was looking forward to returning to Liverpool for a homecoming gig.
A 10/10 polished performance.

WAS IT WORTH THE JOURNEY ??
I don't know - still smiling :) :) but I can't remember driving home - I was in "COLIN MODE" singing songs and wondering how far away is Southampton.

Got a few shows left in me for this tour. Hope to see some of you somewhere

THE FANS !!!
As already stated, I was in Kilkenny by default !!
It is up to us to raise Mr Vearncombe's profile, to contact radio and TV stations (local and national), to inform local press of forthcoming gigs, etc, to bring friends, family and neighbours to gigs, to lend out our CDs, to promote this site and get people to chat on it.
TO TELL THE WORLD COLIN VEARNCOMBE IS THE NEW BLACK!!!!

PLEASE REFER TO WATER ON SNOW, TRACK 7

APART FROM THAT IT WAS/IS FANTASTIC!!!
