Mini Blackumentary

Mini-documentary about Black by David Bickley. Featuring Colin and interviews with Robin Millar & Calum MacColl

Colin gives us water on stone

"Following the successful world premiere of 'Water On Stone' at the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival at the end of May, we have decided to make two 'optimised' versions of the film available free of charge for a limited period exclusively through colinvearncombe.com

Regular visitors to the site will remember that we had a limited-period free download of 'The Given' last year.  We offered those loyal supporters who wanted to 'give back', a donation facility and we were very happy with the response so we're doing it again with this release.

We hope you enjoy the film and would mention that the 'pre-release' 2-CD version of the album is nearly sold-old and will not be made available again in that format.  All the album tracks are now available for download through iTunes and CDBaby click here for details."

I will not be pompous enough to think that I should give a review of this artwork.... I can only tell you what I felt.

Welcome to the New SBS website!

UPDATE: The music store is online again... sorry that took so long.

This has taken me way too long to do! The new site is still not fully up to speed but the message board and member profiles are working. I am completely rebuilding the discography area and the music store, they are not ready yet. This was not a small job as the entire core code of this site has been upgraded and it will allow more powerful features and a speedier site for all! I have also had to improve security as forum spammers have been trying to get into this site for months now and I am tired of fighting them off... this new system filters new registrations so some innocents might get caught in the net. I have maintained the old member list minus about 30 fake accounts and I think I restored the message board to it's former glory. The final design is not done and I just wanted the gets this new site going!

So enjoy everyone and wait for the new stuff coming real soon! As an extra bonus I am unveiling the world premiere of my own shameless cover of "Wonderful Life" exclusively here! You just knew that this had to happen! I have a music project called "Proximity" where I put my own touch to classic songs that inspired me. If you are a fan of electronic music then you might enjoy this... if not then put your fingers in your ears and hum along!

Water On Stone premieres at the Fastnet Film Festival

film_festNews via the blacklist:
Colin has teamed up with Cork-based filmmaker and video artist David Bickley to create a unique full-length film to accompany the Black album “Water On Stone”.

“I uncovered a narrative in the album which had echoes back to ancient mythology,” says David, “and had an idea for a 35 minute film that takes the viewer on a journey through the songs in the manner of an ancient saga”. David and Colin then began sequencing the tracks, developing the story and scouting for evocative locations steeped in history and mythology.

"This is one of the most fascinating projects I've ever worked on," says Colin. "David's imagination and film-making expertise have added a new layer of rich imagery and meaning without taking anything away from the original album. It's exciting for any artist to see their work expanded upon and moved into a completely different place from the one originally intended for it and I'm very happy with the result."
The world premiere will be shown as part of the fringe of the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull, West Cork, on May 28th.  The 7pm screening will be at Hacketts, Main Street, Schull where both Colin and David will introduce and talk about the film. The event will be streamed live over the internet on our Ustream channel here.

The album
There is some remaining stock of "Water On Stone" the album as a special 'pre-release' CD with an extra disk of videos and artwork via our website - however, it is now also available for download via iTunes and CDBaby.  Also available for download on CDBaby is "The Given' which will be on iTunes imminently - we'll let you know when that happens.
Coming soon

"The Given" will soon be available for the first time as a physical CD.  It will be on sale individually and as part of a box-set of previously sold-out Colin/Black back-catalogue.  Again we'll let you know just as soon as we have everything in stock so please ensure you keep your Blacklist information up to date.
